The other week I had the pleasure of being part of Dawn and Theresa Big day at Walton Hall Waterton Park Hotel. The weather was Against us a little but it certainly didn’t dampen any ones spirits.This was a fun day with two brides to capture before the ceremony so I found myself hot footing between the bridal sweet in Walton Hall and on the other lovely rooms at Waterton Park hotel just over the bridge. The ceremony was just lovely and the speeches were hilarious. Dawns dad couldn’t be there so she got him on the phone (toy phone) and it all added to the mood of the funny speeches. In the evening we were introduced to an amazingly funny drag act who sung us well into the evening. I left with everyone dancing their hearts out in what I am sure was a fab evening had by all. I show a selection of the images from your day during my time at the evening do and as usual it had a great response.

Performing Arts Photographer Leeds | CAPA’s Our House The Musical

Last night I was privileged enough to photograph the musical Our House. It’s always interesting shooting a piece that you know little about. It also makes it harder because I get engrossed in the story and need to keep reminding myself to use the camera! It was a fantastic show and the talent of CAPA College never ceases to amaze me. Last weekend I did a pre-wedding shoot with Mel and James. They are getting married at St Mary’s Church and Thorpe Park Hotel in a few weeks. We had a great afternoon though it was a little cold and windy! The stormy skies made for a great back drop for the more dramatic images. I am looking forward to their wedding day

Natalie and Simon will be getting married at the Crab and Lobster in Thirsk in a few months. We met for their pre-wedding photo shoot last week and to get to know each other ready for their big day. They chose Fountains Abbey as the place for the shoot. Having never been there before but hearing so much about it I was really looking forward to it. I wasn’t disappointed! What an amazing place! There were so many great places to shoot and some stunning backdrops for shots. We had a great morning and I can’t wait for the Wedding in April! Here a few of my favorites from the shoot.

As tonight is the night so many people will be popping the question and starting their way into the world of weddings I have decided to put together some of my fav pre-wedding engagement moments from the last year. Wedding albums what are they worth?

You have set the date for your wedding, arranged the ceremony, booked the venue for the reception, ordered your wedding dress and the dresses for the bridesmaids, flicked through the brochures and picked your honeymoon destination. Yes you have been busy, but there is still more to be arranged and your budget is not as healthy as when you started.

OK what’s still to be organised, there is the groom and bestman’ s outfits, cake, flowers, photographer, cars the list goes on and on. How is the budget? Looks like you are going to overspend, not unusual, but is there anything that you can economise on.

The best way to make savings is to look at the highest cost first, of what’s left on your list the photographer is likely to be the most expensive.

So what can I save, well let’s get my uncle he’s got a good camera. Maybe not the best idea though it does put a lot of pressure on him to get the shots and he is a guest at your wedding.
What about a photography student from the local college? Yes will be cheap and has loads of theory but lacks on the practical side not having shot a wedding.
To get the shots it looks like you need a professional wedding photographer, but how can you save money. You could strike the wedding album off the list and get the images on a CD.

With this option you will get the shots that you are looking for, but what will you do with the CD, chances are that if an album was not in the budget before your wedding, then after you have returned from your honeymoon you won’t have the cash then either.

What I recommend is that you consider the following, before deciding on what you spend your money on. Wedding cars used for one to two hours. The dresses (very important) used for about twelve hours. Groom and Bestman’s outfit used for about twelve hours. Meal and reception venue used for nine hours maximum. Photographer about twelve to fourteen hours. Honeymoon one or two weeks.

Wedding album the REST OF YOUR LIFE. When your wedding day has passed and you have returned from honeymoon, the only physical things that you will have are your SPOUSE, YOUR DRESS and YOUR WEDDING ALBUM. As excited as you are when planning your wedding CHOOSE WISELY HOW YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY .

Mere Court Wedding | Anna & Oli

Well talk about a winter wedding! On the way over from Leeds to Warrington I had rain, sleet and snow

and as we were in the middle of the bridal prep the heavens opened again and it looked to be a wet wedding. The ceremony and the church were stunning and service was lovely. As we finished in the church the sky cleared and although cold, brightened up! By the time the groups were done it had cleared up enough outside for the three of us to venture out for some couples shots.

Anna and Oli were great fun and really easy to photograph and a special thanks to Anna who braved the cold in a stunning dress. It really made the day to be able to capture the shots we did! The evening do was great fun and my evening slideshow displaying some of the days images along side the guest book was a huge hit! Thanks again guys for letting be me part of an amazing day. The image are now available online to view (password required).
